The path is rarely direct, but it is always Rising.
What We Do
Rising Spirit Care provides inter-spiritual healthcare
to unhoused and underserved people living in Marin County.
Rising Spirit Care respectfully and compassionately
accompanies people and communities
in their journey to identify and experience that which reconnects them
to their innate goodness, wisdom, and each other.
We complete Whole Person Care.

Vision
Rising Spirit Care envisions a world where people act from love, wise compassion, and the knowledge that we are all kin. We imagine a world beyond the dualisms of self and other and mind and body to a place of appreciating and embodying the unity of mind, body, spirit, me, you, and the profound collective experience of wholeness.

Impact
This work serves individuals and communities alike as homelessness is not a personal failure or personal issue. Homelessness is rooted in systemic and communal problems stemming from long histories of othering, current social inequities, and economic and housing policy failures. We are about whole-person care AND whole-community care. When we tend to the most vulnerable among us, all people benefit.
We are not clergy or representatives of any specific religion or philosophy.
We accompany clients in finding their self-identified sources of “spiritus.”
Spiritus is the Latin root word for Spirit.
It refers to “breath” and is related to vigor and essential essence.
Testimonials
“Dez diverted numerous crises, spent time with our most vulnerable when other providers did not have it, and created a safe space for employees to connect. During her time with us, it was measurable. We saw an over 80% decrease in critical incidents at our campus.”
Clinical Director at Ritter Center
“By having a spiritual care provider outside readily available on campus, many clients were able to build trust and begin getting comfortable with receiving other services just by conversing. Dez provided a safe and welcoming point of contact with many clients who can be hesitant to engage in medical or behavioral health services. I have heard from so many clients how much they deeply appreciated her presence and support, and, as a case manager, I completely agree.”
